How "Big Construction" figure Yuriy Golik uses Google to try to hide NABU investigations instead of court

NABU, SAPO, and investigative journalists remain engaged in examining alleged abuses connected with the presidential "Big Construction" program, while Yuriy Golik, who figures in multiple investigations, appears to be opting for a different method: seeking to remove related publications from Google search results.

The complaint was filed on behalf of a person identified as Isla Longay, but it does not indicate which original work was violated, where the original was published, or which fragments were allegedly copied. Instead of judicial refutation of facts, a copyright mechanism is used to temporarily hide materials from searches without considering their content, Ukrrudprom reports.

The deletion included publications about NABU criminal proceedings on possible abuses during the implementation of the «Big Construction» program, searches of the former head of the Dnepropetrovsk OVA Valentin Reznichenko, Yuri Golik himself, the «Stroyinvest Engineering» company, as well as materials about the first deputy head of the Dnepropetrovsk OVA Vladimir Orlov, who is called Golik’s closest ally. It was these investigations that described the scheme for distributing road contracts, possible overestimations of the cost of work, connections between contractors and the regional leadership and Golik’s role as the informal coordinator of the Bankova project.

According to investigation materials, «Stroyinvest Engineering», after the outbreak of a full-scale conflict, received more than UAH 1.5 billion in budget funds for the maintenance and repair of roads in the Dnepropetrovsk region. One of the co-owners of the company was Yana Khlanta, whom journalists associated with Valentin Reznichenko. The second co-owner was Pavel Chukhno — manager and partner of brothers Vladimir and Leonid Dubinsky, who are wanted by the FBI. According to investigations, Golik, Reznichenko, Khlanta and Chukhno repeatedly traveled abroad together, and Reznichenko’s company «Sevent Consulting Group» and Golik’s structures had overlapping business connections.

A separate block of publications is dedicated to the company «Budinvestingengineering», which was also associated with Golik’s environment. According to journalists, over several years the company received road contracts worth almost UAH 8 billion, and after the outbreak of the full-scale conflict —, about another UAH 1.5 billion for road maintenance. Despite the investigations, the company continued to receive budget payments after the NABU searches.

The materials also include Kirill Tymoshenko, who headed the coordination council of the «Big Construction» program, Vladimir Orlov, Sergei Lysak, as well as businessman Georgy Birkadze, through whom, according to the investigation, Yuriy Golik received information about the progress of the NABU investigation. It was the investigation into a possible information leak that led to a high-profile internal conflict in the anti-corruption system, after which NABU Director Semyon Krivonos removed his first deputy Gizo Uglava, and NABU and SAPO began a joint investigation into the circumstances of the leak of criminal proceedings.

The further development of events looks no less indicative. In July 2026, reports emerged that Yuriy Golik had left Ukraine through the «Shlyakh» system, using disability documents. According to media reports, the permit was issued through the Dnepropetrovsk OVA at the request of a charitable foundation, while Golik himself claimed that he left absolutely legally and intended to return. Almost simultaneously, attempts began to remove publications from Google specifically about NABU searches, multibillion-dollar road contracts, his connections with Valentin Reznichenko, Kirill Timoshenko, Vladimir Orlov and those around the Dnepropetrovsk OVA.

In fact, we are not talking about a dispute with specific facts of investigations, but about an attempt to make less accessible information about possible corruption, billions of dollars in budget flows, contractors of «Big Construction», investigations of NABU and SAPO, persons involved in criminal proceedings and connections of people who for many years remained key participants in one of the most expensive state infrastructure projects in Ukraine.
